Introduction
Phage-class mineral processing and refueling stations are AI-operated semi-permanent installations that can sometimes be found in the rings. Phage-class stations can be found by astrogating to a big LIDAR contact. They are operated by Nakamura Dynamics, manufacturers of the Yama-series nuclear reactor cores.
Behaviour
Stations attach themselves to large ringroids and extract water and minerals by melting the ringoid's interior. A protective net is deployed around the target to prevent excessive fragmentation. Mineral output is delivered to Enceladus Prime via front-mounted mass drivers.
Water is stored inside the station and delivered to miner ships docked to one of its arms. The docking arms will catch and guide nearby ships to docking position. The station will continue filling the docked ship's propellant tank until it is full or the ship disconnects. The cost of the propellant is directly subtracted from the player's account.
Phage-Class stations can sometimes be found wandering the rings in search of a suitable ringoid to attach itself to. As these stations are not actively mining, they are unable to sell propellant and will warn adjacent ships to stay out of their way.
Special Interations
Crewmembers with the "Hacker" agenda will enable the player to use a special discount code which (if successful) reduces the price of propellant from 1E$/kg to 0.1E$/kg.
