Big Lidar Contact

From ΔV: Wiki

A Big Lidar Contact is a form of astrogation target where the position of it is known, but the identity is not. LIDAR contacts are typically large structures, being either a moonlet formation or a habitat, left to be determined by your discovery.

Obtaining

A big lidar contact can be found randomly by your crew, when they notice something odd on their instruments, or from requesting trade opportunities from a civilian miner.

Locations

A lidar contact can lead to a multitude of locations, with certain finds being determined by how the coordinates were obtained. The following table provides a list of how they're found:

Big Lidar Contact Find Source Dialogue Associated Further Notes
Obonto Habitat (SRA-01, habitats 03-07 Crew Talk "Hey, captain. Just before we left, I saw a post on RingChan that someone got a big LIDAR hit in this area. We might be the first ones in a position to check it out since the post went up. It might be a good idea to check it out. Who knows what we might find?" SRA-02 is notably left out
Moonlet (normal, Uranium Cave, Space Bar) Crew Talk "Hey, captain, I was having a drink with a friend. They assayed a big iceroid out this way, but they couldn't take any more home, and now their astrogator is sick. The coordinates should be close."
Phage Station Crew Talk Same as previous
Obonto Habitat (habitats 03-06) Crew Talk "Hey, I have music on the radio. Someone is broadcasting pretty close. "

"Triangulating..."

SRA-01,02, & 07 are notably left out
Obonto Habitat (SRA-01, habitats 03-06) Miner Interaction "We picked up something big at the edge of our LIDAR range, deeper in." SRA-02 & 07 are notably left out
Phage Station Miner Interaction Same as previous
Moonlet (normal, Uranium Cave, Space Bar) Miner Interaction Same as previous Uranium Caves have twice the chance of being given
Ganymedean Anarchy Station Miner Interaction Same as preveous

Notes

  • Some miners will know the wherabouts of a specific trade location when asking, however is limited to SRA-03 through SRA-06
  • All named locations (Obonto Habitats, Phage Stations, The Space Bar, Ganymedean Anarchy Station) cannot have their respective numbered locations (exc. Space Bar & Ganymedean Anarchy Station) found.
  • Destination finds all have the same chance of appearing from their respective sources, except for Uranium Caves from miner interactions, which have double the likelihood of being given a location for.
  • The find is set in stone once the coordinates have been recorded.
    • This can be taken advantage of by returning to Enceladus Prime without heading to the anomaly to save, going out to discover the object, and reloading if a different loadout would be preferred.
  • SRA-02 is the only Habitat that has to be found through random chance.
