Ringroids (also commonly referred to as asteroids) are the general makeup of the rings. They contain minerals in the form of ore chunks, the specific mineral contents dependent on the location in the rings. Ringroids come in a variety of sizes, and are comprised into 5 different categories, dependent on how many times they have to be broken down.
Formation Density
Ringroids will form based on the relative density of the area. Density can be determined by how bright of an area as it appears on the visfeed. Density also changes based upon how much of an area is broken down and excavated. Once an area is depleted, rocks will drift back in after around 12 hours of gameplay[1].
Larger ringroids (especially class 1 and 2 ringroids) are less common, being found only in the denser sections of the rings, particularly propellers.
Size Classification
Class 5
Class 5 ringroids are of a relatively small size. Being around 5 meters in diameter on average, these rocks can be easily crushed by even the smaller sized of excavator.
Class 4
Class 4 ringroids are a medium sized set of rocks. Around twice the size of class 5 ringroids, they are around 10 meters in diameter, and will break down into a handful of class 5s when broken.
Class 3
Class 3 ringroids are a somewhat larger size category. Coming up to around 23 meters in diameter, these rocks are getting into the larger size. Less common than the previous two classifications, they break down into a handful of class 4s.
Class 2
Class 2 ringroids are less common than other classes, most commonly being found in propellers. They're significantly larger than other ringroids, being roughly 42 meters in diameter.
Class 1
Class 1 ringroids are rarely seen outside of propeller cores, and are massive in size being around 70 meters in diameter, being larger than most ships in many cases.
Other Formations
During the halloween season, ringroids can occasionally be found in a jack-o-lantern design, commonly referred to as a helloroid. Some ringas take their talents to heart with seasonal art projects.
