Description

A pinnacle of life-saving technology, the HAL-9000 is a robust device capable of preserving life of spaceship crew for weeks to months in most hostile environments. -Trading Card Description

A HAL9000 floating in space

The Heavily Armoured Lifepod 9000 is an almost cylindrical safety tool fitted to all ships flying in the Rings. Designed that in the case of a hull failure, or nuclear meltdown, the crew is evacuated to the lifepod, where they will be maintained under the supervision of a Class-1 AI, where they will be maintained until they are returned to Enceladus.

A lifepod will transmit a morse code message to ships nearby, signalling it's SOS.

Obtaining

Lifepods can be found floating occasionally as a random event, sometimes from radar anomaly contacts, or will be left in place after a ship's reactor goes through nuclear meltdown. A lifepod can fit inside the cargo bay of ships, or be grabbed with the use of a manipulator or a cradle. It can be sometimes il-advised to put a lifepod directly into the cargo hold mid flight, as it can block up an MPU and make most models inoperable because of it.

NOTE: some specific ships are downright impossible to get lifepods from, or don't drop them at all. The EIME's iron-droplet-cooled reactor makes it impervious to meltdown, and the BBW does not drop a lifepod, despite technically being a ship.

Usage

Lifepods can be brought back to Enceladus for a reward of 50,000 E$.

If a lifepod is of pirate origin (i.e. a destroyed pirate ship), and have a bounty hunting license, you can either bring the lifepod to the BBW for an extra bonus of between 50,000 to 150,000 E$, where you can keep the lifepod for it's default reward of 50,000 E$, or bring it back to Enceladus straight for a total of 75,000 E$ reward.
