== Mars Power Industries == | == Enceladus Corporation== | ||
The Enceladus Corporation is the local government of the massive O'Neill cylinder station Enceladus Prime, which orbits the Saturnian moon of Enceladus. It holds an effective monopoly over all mining operations within the Saturnian system, as Enceladus is the only large moon close enough to the rings to support the logistical requirements of large-scale ring excavation. In 2184, it was the focal point of the First Enceladian Gold Rush after an asteroid impacted the then-in-construction station, revealing an abundance of rare elements within the A-Ring. | |||
While the corporation recognizes the need for policing in the A-Ring on account of pirate activity, it does not have an active military, nor a wish to field one. The rule of law is instead enforced through a weregild system, where compensatory fines are issued to individuals dependent on the severity of their transgressions. The Vilcy, an organized group of bounty hunters, have taken great interest in the system, and are the rings' de-facto police force. | |||
Services offered on Enceladus Prime are private ventures granted authority to operate on the station by the Enceladus Corporation, in exchange for a controlling stake in the business in question. | |||

Nakamura Dynamics
[[File:Nakamura_Dynamics_logo.png|alt=The Nakamura Dynamics logo|right|thumb|The Nakamura Dynamics logo as seen in the Kitsune HUD]] | |||
Nakamura Dynamics is the largest military contractor in the solar system, and started to offer a range of advanced technologies and surplus military equipment to the civilian market following the demilitarization of their fleet. In addition, they are the largest providers of advanced AI in the Saturnian system, and produce several high-profile products that are collaborations with or otherwise connected to other major companies. | |||

|MWG Microwave Emitter | |||
|Microwave Emitter | |||
|Microwave generator technology developed by Nakamura and later reused in the Point Defence Microwave Generator. It is unclear if the technology was designed for the civilian market for mining, or if it was originally intended as a counter-electronics weapon system. | |||

|NT Mining Companion | |||
|Autonomous Mining Drone | |||
|Developed in a join effort between Nakamura Dynamics and Titan Heavy Industries, the NT Mining Drone was an attempt by the two companies to develop a mining drone swarm to effectively automate the excavation of the rings of Saturn. The project failed as unsupervised drones developed social tendencies with other drones and reduced mining in their priorities. The project was abandoned, and many, but hardly all, of the drones were refitted and rebranded as the NT Mining Companion to be sold to independent contractors. The fallout of this project can still be encountered in the rings, with damaged drones huddled together as seen by passing ships, and reports of massive, extraordinary drone swarms that still lurk in the rings to this day, thankfully, without seemingly hostile intent. | |||

|- | |||
|NDPT-4205 point defence turret | |||
|Mass Driver | |||
|A semi-autonomous turret-mounted rapid-fire railgun system, underpowered compared to fixed mass driver systems but still able to put a significant amount of mass down range at a high speed. The weapon system's Class-1 AI performs all the calculations necessary for the system to operate effectively as a point defense system, and could theoretically operate fully autonomously, however a human operator is required to pull the trigger in order to circumvent the Sofia Treaty on Sentient and Semi-Sentient Weaponry. The fact that the licensing for the weapon system is purchased through the Obonto Habitats, who say the system just didn't work out for them, implies that the NDPT-4205 may have been an intended replacement for, or was replaced by, the Point Defence Microwave Generator on the Obonto Habitats. | |||
|None | |||
|- | |||
|Point Defence Microwave Generator | |||
|Microwave Emitter | |||
|A fully autonomous turreted microwave generator, designed in cooperation with Obonto Microengineering to protect the latter company's space habitats, Nakamura likely provided their point defense system and microwave emitter expertise, while Obonto provided the proprietary software the turreted systems use. Their certification for only defensive and mining uses circumvents the Sofia Treaty on Sentient and Semi-Sentient Weaponry, while allowing them to remain fully autonomous, albeit only under direct human supervision. | |||

|Military projectile magazine | |||
|Ammunition Storage | |||
|A demilitarized military-grade storage compartment for kinetic projectiles, including custom rail hardware for industrial mining ammunition and a stripped-down delivery system. It is unclear what kind of ship this system may have been used on, however its smaller, stripped down nature may imply it was originally used on larger craft and may be a variant of the Frigate-class projectile magazine. | |||

|- | |||
|Frigate-class projectile magazine | |||
|Ammunition Storage | |||
|A military-grade storage compartment for kinetic projectiles, typically mounted on frigates. Includes custom rail hardware for industrial mining ammunition and a delivery system. Implies "frigate" class ships may still rely on physical munitions for their offensive weapons. See below for an expansion on this idea. | |||
|None | |||
|- | |||
|Destroyer-class projectile magazine | |||
|Ammunition Storage | |||
|A military-grade storage compartment for kinetic projectiles, typically installed on heavy point defense systems on destroyers. Includes custom rail hardware for industrial mining ammunition and a delivery system. Implies that "destroyer" class vessels in the 23rd century may be large enough that multiple of these magazines could have been installed on them. Additionally the information they are typically used for point defense on these ships implies their offensive weapon systems may require more specialized munition handling hardware, if they utilize physical projectiles at all. | |||
|None | |||

|Nanodrone Component Storage | |||
|A decommissioned military-grade storage module for disposable nanodrone components, capable of rapid delivery of selected parts to the drone assembly plant. Implies the utilization of nanodrones aboard military spacecraft. They may have been utilized with systems such as Obonto's OME Maintenance Drones, however the existence of other nanodrone utility systems, defensive systems, and even weapon systems is not an impossibility. (Military applications could include: deceleration/deflection of incoming munitions, generating cloud shields against energy weaponry, and forceful disassembly of nearby ship systems) | |||
|None | |||
|- | |||
|Harvester-class nanodrone storage | |||
|Nanodrone Component Storage | |||
|An extensive nanodrone storage module designed for harvester ships, capable of rapid delivery of selected parts to the drone assembly plant. The second largest available nanodrone component storage, the description implies Nakamura may produce larger "harvester" vessels, or is simply repurposing technology from their Military nanodrone storage for the civilian market as a result of their demilitarization. | |||

|Nakamura Dynamics Yama-SSR16S | |||
|Reactor Core | |||
|The aftermarket modified S variant of the SSR16 reactor core strips out original safety systems to make more raw thermal power available. | A military grade fission turbine powerplant, the heavy duty turbine designed to generate a huge amount of energy at the cost of a significant amount of propellant (compared to smaller fission turbine powerplants) to dispose of waste heat. | |||
|None | |||
|- | |||
|NDAPS | |||
|Auxiliary Power Storage | |||
|A fairly basic Superconductive Magnetic Energy Storage system designed by Nakamura to store excess energy at peak power generation so that it may be used without overstressing powerplant systems during peak power usage, such as during combat engagements and maneuvers. | |||
|None | |||
|- | |||
|Nakamura MPU | |||
|Mineral Processing Unit | |||
|With a particular focus on mineral recovery, but still capable of remass reclamation, the Nakamura MPU is a common retrofit many captains use as a middle grounds, between the slow but all-encompassing Rusatom-Antonoff MPU, and the extreme "efficiency first" but finicky Mitsudaya-Starbus MSU. Its use of microwave emitters to sublimate mineral chunks makes it fairly quick and efficient at its job, but requires a dedicated processing bay to perform processing, creating a bottleneck which can be jammed with mineral chunks and require intentional mass-shifting to clear. | |||
|None | |||
|- | |||
|Voyager RSLS Fabrication Plant | |||
|Mineral Processing Unit | |||
|One of two major collaborations with Obonto Microengineering, the Voyager is the only currently available MPU units equipped with a "rapid selective laser sintering" system, using heat and pressure to reform processed minerals into mass driver slugs or nanodrone components (not 3D printing as is commonly assumed). The Voyager is likely a combination of the technologies of the Nakamura MPU, with a particular focus on remass reclamation, (as stats are extremely similar between the two systems) and Obonto microgravity manufacturing technologies. | |||
|Obonto Microengineering | |||
|- | |||
|NDCI Autopilot | |||
| Autopilot | |||
|A demilitarized, military grade artificial neural-network autopilot, originally used in Tsukuyomi-class frigates. This explains its many military features. Its mention of the demilitarized version being incapable of full autonomy implies the original version was, and explains why it comes standard in Conlido RVM "Cothon" series ships, which were originally autonomous shuttles. | |||
| None | |||
|- | |||
|ND-LIS Kitsune HUD | |||
|HUD | |||
|The standard HUD of Nakamura's ND-LIS Kitsune light shuttle. A significant amount of emphasis is placed on providing situational awareness to the operator, displaying all three zoom levels of the Visual Feed at once, and presenting a unique zoomed-in and zoomed-out LiDAR display. | |||
|None | |||
|- | |||
|ND-LIS Kitsune | |||
|Light shuttle | |||
|A light shuttlecraft designed to fit a support/transport role that was developed post-demilitarization of Nakamura's fleet for the civilian market. Their production cost unfortunately outweighed the shuttle's unique features, such as its variable geometry cargo bay and compact size, leading to the discontinuation of the line. | |||
|None | |||
|- | |||
|Tsukuyomi-class frigate | |||
|Light tactical frigate | |||
|Designed back in 2190, Nakamura's Tsukuyomi-class frigate was the first light tactical frigate utilizing Nuclear Salt-Water Rockets. Enormous waste heat of main drive made it obsolete on modern battlefield. The distinction of "light tactical frigate" indicates its use role, serving as a support ship for more combat capable vessels, intended to be used as a tender or supply ship to a larger fleet, not as a front line brawler. The ship class is a relic of Nakamura's heyday as a military contractor, and one can be found in use by the Vilcy as their mobile HQ. | |||

|Phage-class Mineral Processing Station | |||
|Autonomous Mining Drone | |||
|The Phage-class of stations are autonomous mining stations that can be found within the rings of Saturn. Each is fully operated by a Class-2 Artificial Intelligence that utilize heat from a large reactor core to sublimate minerals out of moonlets and then fire packages of processed minerals via a dorsal mass driver to be captured on Enceladus Prime. Through interactions with crew and normal dialog choices they help to reveal the outlook that some people have on AI in the 23rd century, and its relationship to mankind. | |||

Enceladus Corporation

Nakamura Dynamics is the largest military contractor in the solar system, and started to offer a range of advanced technologies and surplus military equipment to the civilian market following the demilitarization of their fleet. In addition, they are the largest providers of advanced AI in the Saturnian system, and produce several high-profile products that are collaborations with or otherwise connected to other major companies.
Product | Type | Relevant Information | Collaborators |
---|---|---|---|
MWG Microwave Emitter | Microwave Emitter | Microwave generator technology developed by Nakamura and later reused in the Point Defence Microwave Generator. It is unclear if the technology was designed for the civilian market for mining, or if it was originally intended as a counter-electronics weapon system. | None |
NT Mining Companion | Autonomous Mining Drone | Developed in a join effort between Nakamura Dynamics and Titan Heavy Industries, the NT Mining Drone was an attempt by the two companies to develop a mining drone swarm to effectively automate the excavation of the rings of Saturn. | Titan Heavy Industries |
NDPT-4205 point defence turret | Mass Driver | A semi-autonomous turret-mounted rapid-fire railgun system, underpowered compared to fixed mass driver systems but still able to put a significant amount of mass down range at a high speed. | None |
Point Defence Microwave Generator | Microwave Emitter | A fully autonomous turreted microwave generator, designed in cooperation with Obonto Microengineering to protect the latter company's space habitats, Nakamura likely provided their point defense system and microwave emitter expertise, while Obonto provided the proprietary software the turreted systems use. Their certification for only defensive and mining uses circumvents the Sofia Treaty on Sentient and Semi-Sentient Weaponry, while allowing them to remain fully autonomous, albeit only under direct human supervision. | Obonto Microengineering |
Military projectile magazine | Ammunition Storage | A demilitarized military-grade storage compartment for kinetic projectiles, including custom rail hardware for industrial mining ammunition and a stripped-down delivery system. It is unclear what kind of ship this system may have been used on, however its smaller, stripped down nature may imply it was originally used on larger craft and may be a variant of the Frigate-class projectile magazine. | None |
Frigate-class projectile magazine | Ammunition Storage | A military-grade storage compartment for kinetic projectiles, typically mounted on frigates. Includes custom rail hardware for industrial mining ammunition and a delivery system. Implies "frigate" class ships may still rely on physical munitions for their offensive weapons. See below for an expansion on this idea. | None |
Destroyer-class projectile magazine | Ammunition Storage | A military-grade storage compartment for kinetic projectiles, typically installed on heavy point defense systems on destroyers. | None |
Military nanodrone storage | Nanodrone Component Storage | A decommissioned military-grade storage module for disposable nanodrone components, capable of rapid delivery of selected parts to the drone assembly plant. Implies the utilization of nanodrones aboard military spacecraft. They may have been utilized with systems such as Obonto's OME Maintenance Drones, however the existence of other nanodrone utility systems, defensive systems, and even weapon systems is not an impossibility. (Military applications could include: deceleration/deflection of incoming munitions, generating cloud shields against energy weaponry, and forceful disassembly of nearby ship systems) | None |
Harvester-class nanodrone storage | Nanodrone Component Storage | An extensive nanodrone storage module designed for harvester ships, capable of rapid delivery of selected parts to the drone assembly plant. The second largest available nanodrone component storage, the description implies Nakamura may produce larger "harvester" vessels, or is simply repurposing technology from their Military nanodrone storage for the civilian market as a result of their demilitarization. | None |
NDSTR thruster | Reaction Control System | Station-keeping thrusters of the Tsukuyomi-class retrofitted for use aboard civilian craft as a reaction control system. | None |
NDVTT thruster | Reaction Control System | Specifically designed for use in civilian craft and based upon the NDSTR, indicating development post demilitarization. | None |
ND-PNTR engine | Main Propulsion | A main propulsion torch that, despite its underwhelming power by today's standards, are still popular for their low price and maintenance overheads. Won "Torch of the Year 2251". | None |
ND-NTTR engine | Main Propulsion | The Tactical Thrusters of the Tsukuyomi-class, these thrusters that serve as a scaled up RCS system on the frigates can serve as the main propulsion of most modern craft with a little bit of creative engineering. | None |
Nakamura Dynamics Yama-SSR12 | Reactor Core | Nakamura's liquid core reactor system. | None |
Nakamura Dynamics Yama-SSR16 | Reactor Core | A proprietary version of the SSR12 that serves as the standard reactor of the Prospector series of ships, indicating some level of ties between Nakamura and Mitsudaya-Starbus. | None |
Nakamura Dynamics Yama-SSR16S | Reactor Core | The aftermarket modified S variant of the SSR16 reactor core strips out original safety systems to make more raw thermal power available. Only available after Racers point you to "their people" and lacking official retro-fit kits, it is very likely the S variant is not endorsed by Nakamura Dynamics. | Aftermarket Modifications |
Military-grade Turbine | Fission Powerplant | A military grade fission turbine powerplant, the heavy duty turbine designed to generate a huge amount of energy at the cost of a significant amount of propellant (compared to smaller fission turbine powerplants) to dispose of waste heat. | None |
NDAPS | Auxiliary Power Storage | A fairly basic Superconductive Magnetic Energy Storage system designed by Nakamura to store excess energy at peak power generation so that it may be used without overstressing powerplant systems during peak power usage, such as during combat engagements and maneuvers. | None |
Nakamura MPU | Mineral Processing Unit | With a particular focus on mineral recovery, but still capable of remass reclamation, the Nakamura MPU is a common retrofit many captains use as a middle grounds, between the slow but all-encompassing Rusatom-Antonoff MPU, and the extreme "efficiency first" but finicky Mitsudaya-Starbus MSU. Its use of microwave emitters to sublimate mineral chunks makes it fairly quick and efficient at its job, but requires a dedicated processing bay to perform processing, creating a bottleneck which can be jammed with mineral chunks and require intentional mass-shifting to clear. | None |
Voyager RSLS Fabrication Plant | Mineral Processing Unit | One of two major collaborations with Obonto Microengineering, the Voyager is the only currently available MPU units equipped with a "rapid selective laser sintering" system, using heat and pressure to reform processed minerals into mass driver slugs or nanodrone components (not 3D printing as is commonly assumed). The Voyager is likely a combination of the technologies of the Nakamura MPU, with a particular focus on remass reclamation, (as stats are extremely similar between the two systems) and Obonto microgravity manufacturing technologies. | Obonto Microengineering |
NDCI Autopilot | Autopilot | A demilitarized, military grade artificial neural-network autopilot, originally used in Tsukuyomi-class frigates. This explains its many military features. Its mention of the demilitarized version being incapable of full autonomy implies the original version was, and explains why it comes standard in Conlido RVM "Cothon" series ships, which were originally autonomous shuttles. | None |
ND-LIS Kitsune HUD | HUD | The standard HUD of Nakamura's ND-LIS Kitsune light shuttle. A significant amount of emphasis is placed on providing situational awareness to the operator, displaying all three zoom levels of the Visual Feed at once, and presenting a unique zoomed-in and zoomed-out LiDAR display. | None |
ND-LIS Kitsune | Light shuttle | A light shuttlecraft designed to fit a support/transport role that was developed post-demilitarization of Nakamura's fleet for the civilian market. Their production cost unfortunately outweighed the shuttle's unique features, such as its variable geometry cargo bay and compact size, leading to the discontinuation of the line. | None |
Tsukuyomi-class frigate | Light tactical frigate | Designed back in 2190, Nakamura's Tsukuyomi-class frigate was the first light tactical frigate utilizing Nuclear Salt-Water Rockets. | None |
Phage-class Mineral Processing Station | Autonomous Mining Drone | The Phage-class of stations are autonomous mining stations that can be found within the rings of Saturn. | None |
